Miss Kathy McCrohon Owner, Director, Teacher, Choreographer
Miss Kathy, the Dance Center Founder, started dancing at the age of four. At age ten, she performed in the Boston Ballet's production of the Nutcracker . She was the first recipient of the Worcester Ballet Society scholarship and won the title of Miss Talent America, #1 in Jazz. After fourteen years of competitive dance she was awarded a scholarship to the Dance Department of Skidmore College where she pursued an education major with a concentration in Dance and attained her New York State Teachers Certification. After completion of college, Miss Kathy toured the Western States dancing with a Ballet Company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She continues to advance her dance study in New York City, Boston and Connecticut. Miss Kathy has been teaching in the metropolitan Boston area for 24 years. She has choreographed for the Worcester County Light Opera, The Wellesley Players, and other local area theater groups. Miss Kathy is also an active parent volunteer in the Public School System orchestrating hundreds of students for their annual Field Day Dance Performance.
Miss Sandi Biggins Performance Producer & Stage Manager, Theatre Teacher
Miss Sandi has over 30 years experience in acting and directing and teaching. She has been with the Dance Center for 22 years. She is a past president of Arlington Friends of the Drama. Sandi is married to Eddie Biggins, Miss Kathy's sound designer. She has produced and stage managed all of Miss Kathy's shows except for The Little Mermaid , when she took time off to give birth to her son Ryan, who now is continuing in her acting footsteps.
Miss Michelle Barnes Choreographer, Teaches Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Stretch and Tumbling
Miss Michelle has studied with Edmund and Irina Novak of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. She has performed in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Raymonda and The Toy Shop . She has a Bachelor of Arts from Smith College and a Master of Arts from USC. She is the choreographer for the Dance Center's Nutcracker Ballet > held annually at Babson College as well as the spring ballet productions of Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Don Quixote, Raymonda, Le Corsaire and La Fille mal gardee .
Michael T.Bates Hip Hop Teacher
Michael has been studying Dance, Gymnastics and Entertainment for 18 Years. Michael started his career in dance at 12 years old when he became a principal in a Boston dance studio performance. From 15 years old to 18 years old, Michael traveled around the country with recording artists like New Kids on the Block, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, Cover Girls and many more! He now lives in Windham, NH and is very excited about passing his talents to his new students at the Kathy McCrohon Dance Center. He is also Co-Founder of The Phunk Shoppe with Joseph Carrier, which opened in September 2006.
Ralph Anthony Hip Hop Teacher
A New York City native, Ralph has been performing consistently for over 15 years. He started his career singing and playing bass guitar in local music groups throughout the city. In the late 90's he was signed to Ariola Records as a solo artist and released several hit singles on the Latin music scene. As a dancer, he worked for MTV's Club MTV and The Grind. He is currently a top Bar Mitzvah/Wedding MC in New England.
Miss Jaclyn Capozzi Ballet, Jazz and Modern Teacher
Miss Jaclyn recieved her BA in Dance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Currently, she is the Artistic Director of the Melrose Youth Ballet. She has performed and competed all over New England in workshops, recitals and competitions. She has also choreographed for Alive With Dance, and the Emerging Choreographer's Series
at UMass.
Miss Tiffany DeWitt Receptionist, Dancer
Miss Tiffany was part of the Chelmsford High School Dance Team as well as cheerleading for the basketball team. She currently dances with Bates Entertainment and is also modeling.
Miss Jaime Gaudet Hip Hop Teacher
Miss Jaime is a senior at Babson College where she founded the first ever Hip Hop Dance Team, Hypnotik Dance Crew. She has been the Dance Coordinator at the Waltham Boys & Girls Club since September 2006, serving over fifty kids and also teaches at the McDevitt Middle School in Waltham as part of the Mall Mania Program. Previously she was Co-Captain of the Weston High Dance Team taking top prizes at regional competitions across Massachusetts. She also worked as a Master Teacher and Camp Counselor at the A+ Dance Camp. She is currently studying Leadership and pursuing a career in Entertainment.
Miss Alyssa Hibbin Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern Teacher
Miss Alyssa has been dancing since the age of 10. She graduated with a BA in Dance from the University of New Hampshire. Along with dance, Alyssa has also studied circus skills and aerial dance with Circus Smirkus and former Cirque du Soilel performers.
Miss Riitta Lherault Tumbling, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop and Theatre Teacher
Miss Riitta has her BFA in dance from the Boston Conservatory. She has been teaching dance along with coaching competitive Gymnastics for the past 11 years at studios throughout the state.
Miss Erin Martin Ballet Teacher
Miss Erin studied at Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. She recieved her diplomia from St. Petersburg Institute of Culture and Arts in Ballet Pedagogy. In 1994 she opened the Russian Academy of Ballet in Virginia Beach. She then became an instructor at Boston Ballet School in 1996 until moving to the United Kingdom in 2004.
Miss Athina Nikopoulos Office Manager, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern, and Tap Teacher
Miss Athina has studied and performed dance throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and London, England. She graduated Cum Laude from Roger Williams University with a BA in Dance Performance, minor in Business and core concentration in British Studies. She has performed works by France Hunter, Gary Shore, Melody Ruffin Ward, L’Anoinette Steins, DeAnna Pellecchia, and Martha Graham for RWU, RIC and ACDFA. She is founder of Asofian Dance, Co-Founder of Steps in the Sun and is receiving her certification in Personal Training as well as judging many local dance competitions throughout New England.
Miss Aly Pereira Hip Hop, Tap Teacher
Miss Aly has been dancing for 21 years and teaching for 6 years. She graduated from Roger Williams University in 2005 with a BA in Theatre. She has studied with the Boston Conservatory, Sean Curran and Savion Glover. Currently she is a member of Off the Curb Hip Hop Performance Troupe in Newport, RI. She has travelled all over the world performing for thousands of people and hundreds of audiences including openings for 50 Cent, 112, Busta Rhymes, U.S. Tennis Open, Britney Spears Camp and many more.
Miss Danielle Prestejohn Teacher
Miss Danielle is currently studying Dance at Dean College under a Performing Arts Scholarship and plans to receive her Bachelor of Arts in 2009. She has trained and danced with many choreographers including Kelly Peters and Sue Casey-Murray. She is also a certified Pre-School Teacher and will be completing a Summer Intership at Broadway Dance Center this year.
Brian Roberts Ballet Teacher
Brian Roberts recieved his MA in Dance from American University (1997) in Washington D.C. He studied at SAB on scholarship (1982-84) and taught at Miami City Ballet School and New World School of Arts. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Ballet, Metropolitian Opera, Boston Repertory Ballet and has performed with the Washington Opera.
Miss Stacey Swan Modern, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Tumbling and Hip Hop Teacher
Miss Stacey, a life-long dancer, graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she studied and performed extensively throughout the Five Colleges Dance Consortium. She recieved her BA in Dance and a BS in Communications. She is a member of Kelley Donovan and Dancers in Boston and recently completed her 200 hours yoga certification and is now a registerd Yoga Teacher.
Miss Jai Underhill Tap Teacher
Miss Jai studied the "Leon Collins" style of jazz tap with Judythe Lokich, the Slyde Brothers style with the late Jimmy "Sir Slyde" Mitchell, and Broadway and jazz tap with the late Sue Ronson. She performed at Tap Jams with Jimmy Mitchell, the Strands Theater in Dorchester and has soloed at the Windsor School in Boston and Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain.
Miss Jolie Helmbrecht Jazz Teacher
Miss Jolie received MFA in performance and choreography from New York University Tisch School of the Arts and her BA from the University of Maryland. Jolie founded Bolder Moves , a dance, yoga and body wellness center in Boulder, CO, where she was Executive Director and has co-founded two modern dance companies, DanceBox Theatre and The Bolder Moves Dance Theatre Company . She has taught, danced and choreographed for the past 13 years throughout the Boston, Washington D.C., Colorado and New York areas.
